A Cut-and-Branch Algorithm for the Quadratic Knapsack Problem
The Quadratic Knapsack Problem (QKP) is a much-studied combinatorial optimisation problem, with many practical applications. We present a ‘cut-and-branch’ algorithm for the QKP, in which a cuttingplane phase is followed by a branch-and-bound phase. The cuttingplane phase is much more sophisticated than existing ones in the literature, incorporating several classes of cutting planes, a primal he...

A Branch and Bound Algorithm for the Knapsack Problem
A branch and bound algorithm for solution of the "knapsack problem," max E vzix where E wixi < W and xi = 0, 1, is presented which can obtain either optimal or approximate solutions. Some characteristics of the algorithm are discussed and computational experience is presented. Problems involving 50 items from which approximately 25 items were loaded were solved in an average of 0.07 minutes eac...
متن کاملA Branch and Cut Algorithm for NonconvexQuadratically Constrained Quadratic ProgrammingCharles
We present a branch and cut algorithm that yields in nite time, a globally -optimal solution (with respect to feasibility and optimality) of the nonconvex quadratically constrained quadratic programming problem. The idea is to estimate all quadratic terms by successive linearizations within a branching tree using Reformulation-Linearization Techniques (RLT). To do so, four classes of linearizat...

In the Swapping Problem (SP), every vertex of a complete graph may supply and demand an object of a known type. A vehicle of unit capacity starting and ending its tour at an arbitrary vertex is available for carrying objects of given types between vertices. The SP consists of determining a minimum cost route that allows the vehicle to satisfy every supply and demand. This article investigates t...
